Affordable meals, real choice, zero shame
We turn recovered and donated food into low-cost meal kits that help families put good food on the table. With dignity, choice, and community at the core, we’re replacing shame with hope and restoring the power of a home-cooked meal.

Food Insecurity is on the Rise
Our mission is to offer practical solutions. For over three years, our model of turning surplus food items into healthy meal kits has proven to be affordable and sustainable. Nothing is wasted, and our customers have access to quality food options they usually wouldn’t.

No One Should Go Hungry
Our vision is to see a future where every family can put a home cooked meal on the table. By turning recovered and donated food into affordable meal kits, we’re helping families make meals they can be proud of, transforming shame into hope.

It’s important to us that every customer has the opportunity to move beyond food insecurity.
We do this through our 3 step program:

Year 1 – Stabilization
Families are referred to us through social service agencies, churches, and educators, just as they are today. For this first year, they shop at The Markit while working to keep their heads above water and regain stability.

Year 2 – Participation
Families who wish to continue will move into a membership model and pay an annual fee to shop with us.
Why? Because experience tells us that having some skin in the game matters. It creates ownership in the process and ensures that those who truly want to move forward can continue their journey with us.

Year 3 – Transition
In their final year, families will shop exclusively at our Mill Lake location and will purchase only our meal kits (breakfast, lunch, and dinner options). These kits will be slightly higher in cost, representing another step toward independence. Families will have access to a financial literacy course during this time.

Abbotsford’s 2025 Non-Profit of the Year
We were honoured to receive the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce Award for Non-Profit of the Year in 2025. It means a lot to us and our partners to be recognized by our community in this way.
